STAGE 2
The updated demonstration is an installation. Images are in 360-degree instead of still images. Audios are combining with motion tracking. The objective is to cultivate a habit of observation and reflect our lifestyle and mindset. The impression of my works that I would like to show is the atmosphere of local culture, explicit, collective memory, and sentiment.
Second Meeting with the advisor - Adam Tam 18/11/2020
In the first part, I show some related research and artist works.
In the second part, I think about how the presentation is. If it can be a realization, am I play the video on TV and set up a headphone? If it is virtualization, am I create a QR code and audiences watching the video on their mobile phone? The technique is developed mature. Does it be outstanding from serval artworks? After that, I have another idea. Now a day, a new bauble is famous all around the world; it is called ASMR. Another idea is to take photos of an event or activity and record sound or noise created by natural or artificial. The audiences can listen to the subtle sound rather than the stereo effect. The ASMR sound is not only stimulating our hearing but also tingling sensation.
SUMMARY
Advisor suggests I explore how the property company promotes and demonstrates the estate on the Internet. A few years ago, VR technology developed ripe, and most property companies are using VR media to look for an ideal apartment without staying physically in that building. Using a 360-degree camera and taking photos in the apartment, the viewer can see all corners and detail through the virtual tour. Advisor recommends me to see how to manipulate the camera and how VR does operate. On the other hand, he also mentions the immersive installation that presented ancient Buddhist cave paintings from China in 2012 at SCM. The “Pure Land” installation uses virtual reality technology to immerse audiences in the cave's Buddhist wall paintings. Eventually, my artwork is positioning in immersive art and interaction rather than installation.
