Sound Photography
Stuart Fowkes cooperates with sound artists to collect images from over 75 countries by 500 artists. Stuart Fowkes put all images in a database, and sound designers pick images to conduce a soundtrack. The artwork is a sound map that including multi-style media and re-creates photographs. This project leads me to reflect on the sound itself. It is a close and significant sense related to memory and consciousness. It can be a pure element to create an artwork, but it can also assist in presenting an image. Sound is everywhere, and it is captivating to understand our city by listening to sound. For instance, the “Ding Ding” sound with driving tramways and the “Dood” sound of octopus card. To find the city's unique characteristics, the sound is indispensable to explore. For my work, I consider that the ambient sounds related to the image can enhance memory and improve storytelling around images.
